Jorge Masvidal is getting ready to make his return to the UFC, but one fight you shouldn’t expect? Masvidal vs. Conor McGregor. The “BMF” champ, who stepped away from MMA in 2023, thinks McGregor is more likely to be spotted at a bar than in the octagon.

In an interview with MMA Fighting, Masvidal made it clear that he has little faith in McGregor making a comeback, even though McGregor has hinted at returning for over a year. When asked if fans will ever see McGregor fight again, Masvidal didn’t hold back. “We’ll see him at a bar and sh*t,” he joked. “Talking about in the cage? I don’t think so. I hope he proves me wrong, but I don’t think so.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since his brutal leg break against Dustin Poirier in their 2021 trilogy bout, and while he’s teased a fight against Michael Chandler for months, nothing has happened. UFC CEO Dana White even pushed McGregor’s potential return to 2025, which has only fueled doubts.

Masvidal doesn’t believe McGregor has any intention of fighting him, saying, “Conor, under no circumstances, is fighting me. He’s backed out of fighting Chandler—poor little Chandler. Imagine me? He can’t do enough cocaine to f*cking get jacked up to fight me.”

With McGregor off the table, Masvidal is eyeing Chandler for his first fight back. “That wouldn’t be a bad fight to get my feet wet again,” he teased. “But there’s a lot of fights I would take. I was just throwing that one out there.”

Jorge Masvidal’s bold comments have certainly fired up the MMA world, leaving fans to wonder if McGregor will ever make his long-awaited return to the octagon or if Chandler will be Masvidal’s comeback opponent. With UFC’s biggest stars on uncertain paths, the future is wide open, and anything can happen. Whether McGregor proves Masvidal wrong or Chandler takes up the challenge, fight fans will be watching closely.
