Conor McGregor has once again fueled speculation about his fighting future, responding to a fan comment on social media with a cryptic message.

When a fan suggested that McGregor’s wealth and success had removed the need for him to continue fighting, the former two-division UFC champion simply replied in a now-deleted-tweet, “Ya know what, you’re right, good bye.”

Longtime followers of McGregor’s career know this isn’t the first time he has hinted at walking away from the sport. He has teased retirement multiple times in the past, only to reverse course—sometimes deleting his comments shortly after. For now, it’s unclear whether this latest statement signals the end of his fighting career or is just another chapter in McGregor’s unpredictable saga.

McGregor, hasn’t fought since suffering a devastating leg break in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. The injury forced him to take a prolonged break from competition, but in the interim, McGregor stayed active, coaching The Ultimate Fighter opposite Michael Chandler. A fight between the two was scheduled for UFC 303 this past June, but McGregor withdrew, and Chandler has since moved on to a rematch with Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.

Aside from teasing a UFC return, McGregor has also shown interest in competing for BKFC, the bare-knuckle boxing promotion in which he holds partial ownership. However, no clear plans or dates have been confirmed.

UFC CEO Dana White recently suggested that fans shouldn’t expect McGregor back until sometime in 2025. Whether that return materializes remains to be seen, especially with McGregor’s latest cryptic comment adding more uncertainty to his future.
