Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially returning to the jungle!

Sony Pictures has confirmed via Deadline that Jumanji 3 will hit theaters on December 11, 2026, with Johnson expected to reprise his role as Dr. Smolder Bravestone. The beloved action-comedy franchise will once again unite Johnson with co-stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, with director Jake Kasdan also returning to helm the film.

The news of Johnson’s involvement should thrill fans, as the actor’s portrayal of the heroic yet hilariously self-aware video game avatar was a major highlight in the previous films. His chemistry with Hart, Black, and Gillan has been a key ingredient in the franchise’s box office success, with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) grossing $962.5 million globally and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) adding another $801.6 million to the series’ total.

Johnson’s return to the Jumanji universe comes after a brief hiatus from the franchise. While busy with various other projects, including the upcoming holiday film Red One (premiering November 15, 2024), Johnson has expressed excitement about reuniting with the Jumanji crew.
