After two years of back-and-forth lawsuits, Adidas and Kanye West have reached a settlement, officially putting an end to their legal disputes.
Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden confirmed the resolution during a press call on Tuesday, stating that both sides agreed to walk away from the conflict with no money exchanged.
“There are no more open issues,” Gulden said. “And there is no … money going either way, and we both move on.”
Although Gulden didn’t directly address Kanye’s past antisemitic remarks, he acknowledged that tensions had plagued their partnership. Despite these issues, the two parties decided it was no longer necessary to fight and chose to withdraw all claims, according to Reuters.
Adidas has reported improved performance in key markets since the split, with growth seen in Greater China and North America. This success was attributed to the brand’s stronger image following its decision to part ways with Kanye.
Even though the company sold off its remaining Yeezy stock for $215 million—significantly less than prior years—Adidas remains firm in its stance. The brand knew it would take a financial hit, with initial forecasts estimating a loss of $246 million in net income following the termination. Still, Adidas emphasized that values such as diversity and mutual respect took precedence over profits.
Adidas severed ties with Kanye in October 2022 after his controversial antisemitic comments drew widespread backlash. At the time, the company issued a public statement condemning the remarks, saying: “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.”
Despite the challenges that followed, Gulden made it clear that Adidas feels no regret about the breakup, stating that the company is now in a better position without the Yeezy brand attached to it.
Kanye’s representatives have not yet responded to the news of the settlement.
