Conor McGregor is famous for his remarkable accomplishments in mixed martial arts, including being the first fighter to hold championships in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions simultaneously. Given his success, it makes sense that Cody Rhodes would like to see McGregor make a crossover to WWE. In fact, McGregor has now responded to Rhodes’ interest in this potential move.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Cody Rhodes made it clear he wanted to see McGregor crossover into WWE. He explained that the competition in WWE is different from what many people think; it requires a lot of discipline and professionalism to succeed, especially to make it to events like WrestleMania. Rhodes believed that since McGregor has fought at such a high level, now would be a good time for him to explore the entertainment side of sports, and he thinks McGregor would excel in that environment.
“I’ll say that one person I’d love to see just dip his toes in the WWE would be Conor McGregor. We were just talking about Proper Twelve whiskey, and I think Conor should give it a try. The competition environment at WWE is different from what people might expect—it’s so much about who’s the most disciplined, the most professional, getting to the finish line, making it to a WrestleMania. Someone like him, who’s competed at the highest level in so many incredible fights, maybe it’s time to explore the more entertainment side of sports. I think he’d be great at it.“
Conor McGregor took to Twitter and shared a video of Rhodes and MMA commentator The Schmo enjoying a bottle of Proper No. 12 whiskey, which is McGregor’s own brand. He was happy to see them display what he called “class personified” and told Rhodes that they would see each other soon.
“The Schmo and the undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes enjoying themselves some smooth @ProperWhiskey ! CLASS PERSONIFIED! Love it Cody, see you soon 👀”
Conor McGregor hasn’t ruled out the possibility of competing in WWE in the future. It’s uncertain if he will actually join the promotion, but the recent merger between WWE and UFC has created new opportunities. Therefore, we’ll have to see if The Notorious One will make his way to WWE someday and perhaps engage in a feud with Cody Rhodes.
