Wayans Brothers Bringing Scary Movie Franchise Back to Life in 2025

The Scary Movie franchise is officially back, and three of its biggest stars are returning to revive the series. It’s been more than a decade since Scary Movie 5 premiered in 2013, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the hilarious parody’s return. Now, the trio responsible for creating the beloved comedy franchise is reuniting for the new installment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans have signed on to bring Scary Movie back to life. The brothers will write the script together and serve as producers.

“We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise,” Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman said in a statement. “The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen, and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”

The Wayans brothers also shared their excitement about working together on the project. “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again.”

Marlon took to Instagram to celebrate the news, writing: “WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

The Wayans brothers played a pivotal role in shaping the franchise’s first two installments, with Marlon and Shawn co-writing and starring in the films, while Keenen wrote and directed. Production on the new Scary Movie is expected to kick off in 2025, and although specific plot details remain under wraps, excitement is already building for the comedic return.
