Arnold Schwarzenegger is breaking party lines in a big way, officially endorsing Kamala Harris for president despite his long history as a Republican. The former California governor took to X on Wednesday to deliver a message to voters, cautioning that re-electing Donald Trump would mean “four more years of bulls‑-t.”
In a post, Schwarzenegger reflected on his political stance: “I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians.” Despite his reservations, he stressed that this election is too critical to ignore, especially coming from someone with his political background: “I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor.”
Schwarzenegger didn’t hold back, sharing his frustrations with both parties: “My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results. Democrats aren’t any better at dealing with deficits, and I worry about their local policies hurting our cities with increased crime.”
Though he admitted to hating politics, the Terminator star emphasized that being an American must come first: “I will always be an American before I am a Republican. That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Schwarzenegger criticized Washington’s failure to address critical issues like the national debt and immigration reform, expressing his frustration that politicians seem more focused on winning elections than helping the American people. He warned against electing Trump again, stating, “He won’t respect your vote unless it’s for him,” and referenced Trump’s role in the January 6th Capitol riots.
Schwarzenegger also took a swipe at Trump’s track record, describing him as a “candidate who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people” and accused Trump of treating Americans who disagree with him as bigger threats than foreign adversaries.
This bold move from Schwarzenegger is stirring reactions across social media, with some praising his break from party loyalty and others criticizing him for turning on the GOP.
