Kristin Cavallari Reveals Awkward DM Exchange with Bobby Flay

Kristin Cavallari got real about a cringeworthy moment when she accidentally turned down celebrity chef Bobby Flay — all because of a mix-up about his intentions. On the latest episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, Cavallari admitted she thought Flay was sliding into her DMs for a romantic date.

Flay kicked off the story, recounting his attempt to invite Cavallari out for dinner while in Nashville. “I DMed you and I said to you … ‘I’m going to be in Nashville for one night, can I take you to dinner?’” Flay explained.

However, Cavallari’s response wasn’t quite what he expected. “You literally said something to me like, ‘I’m already dating somebody,’” Flay shared, laughing at the memory.

Cavallari clarified her side, recalling that she may have been in a different headspace at the time. “Or I was like, ‘I’m over dating right now.’ I was burnt out on dating or something,” she admitted.

But Flay stuck to his version of events. “No, you said, ‘I’ve already started seeing somebody!’ And I said, ‘I just want to go to dinner with you,’” the chef responded, chuckling.

Realizing how awkward the situation became, Cavallari confessed, “It was like foot in mouth.” She acknowledged that she had misinterpreted the invite. “I think the ‘take you to dinner’ thing is more where it was like, ‘Oh, that seems like a date,’” she explained.

Despite the mix-up, the two ultimately met up and hit it off. “We had the best time,” Cavallari said, confirming that all was well between them after the misunderstanding.
