MLB is cracking down on two New York Yankees fans after their antics disrupted Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World Series. League officials are coordinating with the Yankees to ensure the duo doesn’t return for Game 5 on Wednesday night in New York.

According to TMZ, the league is even offering to refund the fans’ ticket costs if it means keeping them out of Yankee Stadium for the critical matchup.

The incident went down in the first inning of Game 4 when Betts attempted to catch a pop fly from Gleyber Torres near the right-field wall. As Betts made the grab, fans Austin Capobianco and John Peter interfered, grabbing his arms and dislodging the ball from his mitt. Security escorted the two away from their seats shortly after.

Despite being kicked out, ESPN reported that the pair had been told by NY officials they could attend Game 5. Capobianco admitted to ESPN that his actions were wrong, but added, “I patrol that wall,” seemingly downplaying his interference.

So far, the Yankees organization has not made an official comment on the matter.

As for Betts, the Dodgers star took a diplomatic approach, brushing off the incident with reporters after L.A.’s 11-4 loss, saying it wasn’t a big deal.

With the World Series tension building and the Yankees on the verge of elimination, MLB is working hard to prevent any further disruptions.

What do you think—should the two fans be allowed back for Game 5, or was MLB right to push for a ban? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
