Cardi B took center stage at a rally in support of Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday night at Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center in West Allis, WI. Speaking passionately, Cardi voiced her support for Harris, calling out Donald Trump with some fiery remarks and even giving him a new nickname, “Donny Dump.”
In her speech, Cardi praised Harris for championing women’s rights, empathized with her as an underdog, and voiced frustration over Trump’s policies. “Donny Dump, if your definition of protection is making sure our daughters have fewer rights than their mothers, then I don’t want it,” she declared, capturing the crowd’s attention.
Following the rally, Cardi took to Twitter to continue the conversation and shut down claims about her motivations. “I did not get paid a dollar for this,” she clarified. “Before I was a celebrity I was a product of poverty for 24 years, so you not gonna tell me what I want to see in MY community.”
Cardi didn’t stop there. She critiqued Trump’s stance on women’s rights, saying, “Protection for women… isn’t telling them WHAT to do with their bodies, it’s supporting them and giving them the care they need.” She added that her success as a woman has often been questioned and discredited, a frustration she shares with Harris. “Women have to work ten times harder and STILL our success comes with excuses… its because she’s pretty or because she slept her way to the top.”
In one final blow, Cardi called Trump’s tactics “nasty work,” referencing his branded merchandise and controversial policies. “Tomorrow he’ll be hustling you out of your healthcare rights… the only concept of a plan he has is a plan to hustle YOU,” she concluded.
With Jennifer Lopez also showing her support at a rally in Nevada, these high-profile endorsements continue to add energy to the campaign trail.
