Kick-Ass star Chloë Grace Moretz has officially come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, using her platform to speak openly about her identity and her support for LGBTQ+ rights.

The 27-year-old actress shared the news in a powerful Instagram post on November 1, as she cast her early vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.

Expressing her views on the critical issues at stake, Moretz wrote, “There is so much on the line this election. I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor.” She voiced her support for Harris, stating she believes Harris will protect women’s rights.

In addition to her post, Moretz revealed, “I believe in the need for legal protections that protect the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman.” Moretz, who has been linked romantically to model Kate Harrison, emphasized the importance of access to care and legal protections for LGBTQ+ individuals.

This announcement marks the first time Moretz has publicly addressed her sexuality, though she has long been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Back in 2018, she starred in The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a film centered on a young girl forced to attend gay conversion therapy. At the time, she told The Independent, “What’s important is don’t assume anyone’s sexuality…These are all societal pressures that we’re being labeled as. We’re all human, trying to be with the people that we fall in love with.”

In a 2021 interview with Shape, Moretz emphasized the importance of authenticity, saying, “It’s important that those around me know where I stand and who I am…I always share my heart in terms of politics and what I feel is right and wrong in the industry.”

Moretz’s public coming out highlights her commitment to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, adding her voice to the push for equality and protection for all.
