Jason Kelce’s loyalty to his brother, Travis, took center stage at Penn State over the weekend after a heated confrontation with a fan who crossed the line with a homophobic comment.
While attending as a guest analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay, Jason found himself at the center of a controversy when a fan directed a slur at his brother Travis, who has been dating pop sensation Taylor Swift since last fall. In a viral video, Jason is seen grabbing the fan’s phone and slamming it to the ground after the offensive remark.
According to sources close to the couple, both Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were deeply affected by the incident. “Taylor and Travis were both really shocked by this, considering Jason is one of the nicest guys in the world. It really became clear how much he loves and respects Taylor. Travis means the world to him,” a source told DailyMail.
The source added that the Kelce family has zero tolerance for hateful language, saying, “The use of the word f-ggot is not okay with him nor anyone…Jason will never stand for anyone insulting his family, and he views Taylor as family now.”
Though Jason Kelce has yet to make a public statement, fans have already taken to social media to praise him for defending his brother and standing up against hate speech.
Jason Kelce’s next appearance will be on Monday night in Kansas City, where he’s set to join ESPN’s broadcast team to cover the Chiefs’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
