Diddy’s legal team is pushing for a gag order in his ongoing racketeering case, aiming to limit public statements by witnesses and their attorneys. His lawyers filed a motion Sunday, requesting an expedited response from the court after one grand jury witness, Courtney Burgess, repeatedly spoke to the media about the case.
Burgess, along with his attorney Ariel Mitchell, has made allegations in multiple interviews, claiming he has or has seen salacious videos of Diddy and his celebrity acquaintances. Outside the courthouse on Thursday, Mitchell told TMZ that Burgess was called to testify specifically because of his knowledge of such videos. Diddy’s legal team, however, argues these claims are defamatory and baseless, asserting that they only serve to fuel conspiracy theories online and make it impossible for Diddy to receive a fair trial.
Diddy’s attorneys allege that the government’s handling of these claims has further inflamed public opinion, calling it an “extortion scam.” They deny any truth to allegations surrounding the so-called “Freak Off” parties, insisting they never involved men, minors, or specific types of gatherings cited in recent media reports. They specifically called out a media outlet that has spread misinformation on these events.
The case has been building since Diddy’s arrest in September on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He remains in custody at the MDC Brooklyn while awaiting trial, and his legal battles have only intensified, with several civil lawsuits being filed against him in recent weeks.
Diddy’s legal team is now pressing for stricter limits on public statements, hoping to protect his right to a fair trial amid a media storm.
