Fans of Eminem and Adam Sandler are in for a treat as the rap legend is set to appear in the upcoming sequel, Happy Gilmore 2.
The U.S. Sun reported on Thursday, November 7 that the iconic rapper, known for his sharp wit and raw talent, recently flew to New Jersey to shoot scenes for the much-anticipated comedy. This marks Eminem’s first major movie role in years and adds yet another milestone to his packed 2024 schedule, which includes endorsing Kamala Harris, supporting the NFL, becoming a grandfather, and releasing his 12th studio album. The last time Marshall Mathers simultaneously released a new album and appeared in a film was back in 2002.
Happy Gilmore 2 isn’t just a random gig for Eminem; it’s a passion project. The U.S. Sun insider shared, “Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with. He didn’t have a big entourage and was just an absolute delight on set.”
This reunion with Adam Sandler comes over a decade after Eminem’s cameo in Sandler’s 2009 comedy Funny People. More recently, in 2021, Eminem made a brief but memorable appearance in 50 Cent’s BMF as White Boy Rick. Despite being offered leading roles in films like Jumper (2008), Wanted (2008), The Fighter (2010), and Southpaw (2015), Eminem has largely shied away from acting, making his return in Happy Gilmore 2 all the more exciting.
Before his appearance in the comedy sequel, Eminem will be featured on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow season two, premiering November 20. The rap competition show will see Em join forces with long-time collaborators Royce Da 5’9″ and Denaun Porter as guest judges, guiding contestants through rap battles—a format where Eminem has become legendary. The new season also stars Latto, DJ Khaled, and Ludacris, promising a star-studded lineup.
This exciting move into acting could signal more screen time for the rap icon in the future. Fans will have to wait and see how Slim Shady’s role unfolds in Happy Gilmore 2, but anticipation is already high.
