Fans of the Ice Age franchise have something to celebrate! Disney has officially announced the development of a brand-new installment in the beloved series, which first melted hearts back in 2002. The last film, Ice Age: Collision Course, hit theaters in 2016, and now, after a long hiatus, the prehistoric gang is making a comeback.
According to Deadline, the announcement was made during Disney’s D23 event in Brazil. Returning to their iconic roles are Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid), Queen Latifah (Ellie), Denis Leary (Diego), and Simon Pegg (Buck), promising fans a reunion of the voices that defined the series.
While a release date has yet to be confirmed, and there’s no word on whether the movie will debut in theaters or head straight to Disney+, what’s certain is that production is already underway. The anticipation is building as Disney continues its trend of breathing new life into its legacy franchises.
This isn’t the only nostalgic project Disney has in the works. Fans are also looking forward to a sequel to Moana, set to premiere later this month, and a follow-up to Freaky Friday, which is scheduled for a 2025 release and will bring back familiar faces.
Stay tuned as more details about the new Ice Age movie surface. We’ll keep you posted with updates as soon as they come in!
