Chicago rap star Lil Durk is facing even more serious legal trouble as he was hit with two additional felony charges on Friday.
The charges, conspiracy and using interstate facilities to aid in a murder-for-hire plot, are related to the assassination of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of fellow rapper Quando Rondo.
The federal charges were outlined in a superseding indictment that positions Durk as the alleged orchestrator or “kingpin” of the operation. This development follows the August 2022 shooting outside a gas station near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, where Robinson was gunned down in what authorities claim was a targeted hit.
According to prosecutors via TMZ, Durk is accused of financially supporting his Only The Family (OTF) affiliates’ trip to California. The group reportedly stayed in a hotel and surveilled Quando Rondo’s car before carrying out the shooting that claimed Robinson’s life. The attack is alleged to have been motivated by the 2020 killing of OTF rapper King Von during a confrontation with Quando Rondo’s crew in Atlanta.
Durk, who has been detained since October, has yet to enter a plea along with his five co-defendants. The Department of Justice indicated that all six are expected to be arraigned in federal court in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
The new charges mark a significant escalation in Durk’s legal woes and paint a more detailed picture of the case against him. Fans and the music industry alike will be watching closely as this high-profile case unfolds.
