Euphoria fans can breathe a sigh of relief—HBO has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated third season of the Zendaya-led drama is still on track.

Amid recent rumors that the show had been scrapped, the network assured The Independent on November 8 that new episodes are indeed coming. “Euphoria is going into production in 2025,” a network representative stated. “Nothing has changed.”

The show, which first premiered in 2019, became a cultural phenomenon by exploring the raw and complex experiences of high school students as they navigate drugs, relationships, and trauma in the digital age. It skyrocketed cast members like Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer to stardom and solidified Zendaya’s status as a powerhouse performer. Her portrayal of Rue Bennett has earned her two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Following the emotional finale of season two in 2022, production on season three hit multiple roadblocks. The 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, coupled with the tragic passing of Angus Cloud in July 2023, contributed to the delays. However, HBO previously announced that filming would commence in January 2025, keeping fans hopeful.

Zendaya herself fueled excitement for the upcoming season during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in October. While she couldn’t share many details, she did confirm that the new season will feature a significant time jump. “I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like,” she admitted, “but I do know that the time jump is happening and I know it’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with—‘and then she cheats on her boyfriend again!’”

The time skip presents a fresh opportunity to explore how the characters evolve beyond high school. “It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school,” Zendaya continued. “And how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the kind of adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I’ll be interested to see what happens too.”

With production set for 2025, fans can look forward to seeing their favorite characters navigate new challenges and life stages in a much larger world.
