Kim Kardashian is getting real about the challenges of motherhood. The SKIMS mogul took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to post a poignant quote that resonated with many of her followers. The emotional message read, “The sad part about motherhood is that you’re raising the one person you can’t live without… to be able to live without you,” accompanied by a teary-eyed emoji for added emphasis.

This heartfelt post comes just two weeks after reports surfaced claiming that Kanye West, her ex-husband, has not been very involved in the upbringing of their four children: North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5. A source close to the Kardashians star revealed, “Kim is pretty much a single mom” and that West is “sadly not around very much” to help with their kids. Despite having a team of nannies and other support, Kardashian has been candid about how challenging it is to balance everything on her own.

“Although she has help, it’s still a lot of work for her to balance and coordinate everything,” the insider noted, highlighting that Kim’s life is centered around her children.

Kardashian previously spoke about the emotional weight of raising her kids without West’s constant presence. On Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast in May 2023, she opened up about the realities of being a single mom, saying, “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful … But at the end of the day, your kids only want you.” She also admitted that there were nights she cried herself to sleep, emphasizing that the struggles her kids face are not mitigated by the help she receives. “The struggles that my kids go through really have nothing to do with the amount of help that I have,” she added.

Kardashian and West, who married in May 2014, finalized their divorce in November 2022, following Kim’s initial filing in February 2021. The court documents revealed that while they agreed to joint custody with “equal access” to their children, the reality is often different. West committed to paying Kardashian $200,000 a month in child support and covering half of the kids’ educational and security expenses.

With everything on her plate, it’s clear that Kim is doing everything she can to give her children stability and love, even as she faces these difficult moments alone.
