Marvel’s Blade movie seemed like a guaranteed hit, especially with Mahershala Ali set to take on the iconic role. But despite the hype, the project has faced delay after delay, with behind-the-scenes changes and even removal from Marvel’s release schedule raising red flags. Fortunately, there’s still hope for fans.

In a recent interview with Omelete, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige assured everyone that the project is alive and well.

“We are committed to Blade. We love the character, we love the version that Mahershala has of him … I can say that the character will reach the #MCU,” Feige said. His reassurance highlights Marvel’s dedication to getting this film right and ensuring Ali’s portrayal gets the spotlight it deserves.

While the production has faced significant setbacks, rumors that director Yann Demange had exited the project turned out to be false. Demange is still attached to the film, along with Mia Goth, who is reportedly playing Lilith. Goth recently spoke to Deadline, stating, “They really care. They do. They want to make a great movie, that’s the sense that I get from them, and that feels good.”

Initially, Blade was set for a November 3, 2023, release, and fans were hyped after the post-credits scene in Eternals hinted at his arrival. But after delays pushed it to November 7, 2025, and then off the schedule entirely, the earliest realistic release might be 2026, though even that’s up in the air.

The renewed interest in Blade was sparked when Wesley Snipes, who originally brought the daywalker to life, returned to the character in Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine. Seeing Snipes back stirred excitement and nostalgia, reminding everyone of the legacy the character holds.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting Mahershala Ali’s take on Blade, anticipating epic team-ups and possible future crossover events like “Blood Hunt.” But before that, we need the first film to drop. Here’s hoping it’s sooner rather than later.

Are you excited to see Mahershala Ali’s Blade finally make his MCU debut? Do you think Marvel will pull off an epic movie worthy of the character’s legacy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
