Rob Gronkowski proved once again that he’s up for any challenge, especially when it comes to honoring the troops. The former NFL tight end, known for his wild antics and infectious energy, took his daredevil spirit to new heights on Fox NFL Sunday by jumping out of a helicopter in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Decked out in a wetsuit and flippers, Gronk bravely leaped from the chopper, following the lead of a real Navy enlistee who jumped first to demonstrate. While the drop was only about 20-25 feet, as pointed out by one of the broadcasters, it was still higher than most people would ever attempt.
Gronk’s jump, captured from his perspective with a GoPro, showcased his mix of excitement and nerves as he splashed into the water below. After making the plunge, he swam over to the aircraft carrier where his co-commentators and a crowd of service members awaited him. He climbed up on deck, sharing high-fives and soaking up the moment with those who dedicate their lives to serving the country.
Of course, in true Gronk fashion, the jump wouldn’t be complete without his signature move—spiking a football. With a wide grin and adrenaline still pumping, Gronkowski slammed the ball down with authority, drawing cheers from the crowd and his colleagues.
Despite being a bit cold after the stunt, Gronkowski reassured everyone he was feeling great. He took the opportunity to show love and appreciation for the brave servicemen and women who perform similar stunts and far more demanding tasks as part of their duty.
This isn’t Gronk’s first high-flying act for Veterans Day. Last year, he jumped out of a plane to salute the military. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe next year, we’ll see Gronk taking his stunts to outer space for a spacewalk with the Space Force!
