Cardi B’s highly anticipated sophomore album has been years in the making, and fans are not shy about letting her know it. Recently, a creative fan made a viral post on X/Twitter featuring a fake album cover of Cardi looking aged, complete with gray hair and wrinkles. The caption read, “POV: it’s 2054 and Cardi B has finally released her sophomore album.”
Cardi, known for her sense of humor and relatability, found the mock-up hilarious. She retweeted it with a simple but telling response, “Lmaaaooooooooooooooo,” showing she’s fully aware of the anticipation—and the jokes—surrounding her delayed album.
Fans’ anticipation is justified, especially since Cardi has been teasing new music for a while now. Last week, following her recent Grammy nomination, she gave a sneak peek of an unreleased track on her Instagram Story. “Ahhhh so grateful,” she wrote, “And the fact that this song is my light work. Whew!!! This album honey… anyways thank you guys. Enjoy your day!!”
The Bronx rapper has been open about her creative process, updating fans last month on Twitter Spaces. “I’m also in L.A. because I have to do something pertaining the album,” Cardi revealed. “I know you guys are going to be like, ‘What the fk, bh?’ But it’s something that’s gonna be done really f**ing quick.”
She assured fans that although it’s taken longer than expected, the final product will be worth it. “It’s just gonna be a one-two. I did it when I was pregnant, and nothing came out how I wanted it to come out, so we’re going to do it again. It’s going to be amazing and unique because everything I do, it’s got to be amazing and unique.”
While some fans have shown impatience, Cardi’s busy schedule—including the birth of her third child in September and ongoing personal matters like her divorce—has undoubtedly impacted her timeline.
