Chanel Maya Banks, the Los Angeles-based actress known for her roles in Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, has been found safe after being reported missing since October 30. The 36-year-old has no injuries, and authorities have confirmed that foul play is not suspected, according to TMZ.
Chanel, previously known as Chanel Farrell during her early acting days, played the recurring character Sawyer Bennett in Gossip Girl from 2009 to 2010. Concerns grew when her family hadn’t heard from her for nearly two weeks, prompting them to report her as missing. She had been living in Playa Vista, L.A., and law enforcement conducted welfare checks at her apartment but were unable to find her initially.
Her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, revealed on a GoFundMe page that the family conducted their own search after welfare checks on November 7 and 8 were unsuccessful. Singh noted, “Her husband is being uncooperative with police,” adding that Chanel’s personal items, phone, and laptop were missing, while her dog and vehicle remained at the apartment. Singh expressed deep concern, stating, “She would NEVER go anywhere without telling her mom or myself.”
The family, not based in Los Angeles, traveled from Toronto and New York, seeking public assistance for their search expenses. Singh told ABC7 Eyewitness News, “Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells. … That girl is more like a big sister to me.” The family feared the worst as the days without communication extended.
Thankfully, Chanel was found safe as of Wednesday (November 13). This news brings relief to her family, friends, and fans who were concerned for her well-being during this alarming time.
