Nelly can now breathe a sigh of relief as he officially puts his August arrest for possession of ecstasy behind him and shifts his attention to the $50K jackpot he scored that same night. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office confirmed that no charges will be issued against the “Country Grammar” rapper.
Chris King, spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office, told TMZ Hip Hop, “We don’t believe the facts in this case warrant the issuing of charges.” Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, shed more light on the decision: “Wesley Bell, the prosecuting attorney, and his office looked at all the circumstances and after a fair and impartial review of the evidence, declined to prosecute.”
Nelly’s August arrest was a bizarre chapter. He had just hit a $50K win on a slot machine at a Missouri casino, which he has frequented for years, before being arrested on a warrant from 2018. Authorities claimed they found four ecstasy pills on him during the arrest. The incident raised eyebrows, with his attorney branding it as overzealous and accusing police of parading Nelly through the casino in handcuffs.
Despite the confusion and frustration, this part of the ordeal is now behind Nelly. The rapper, who has seen big wins at the casino before, can finally move forward.
