“Back to the Future” fans, it’s time to put the DeLorean dreams to rest. Bob Gale, co-creator and writer of the iconic franchise, has confirmed to TMZ that the beloved time-travel saga will not be making a comeback — not as a sequel, reboot, or even a spinoff.

Gale set the record straight amid renewed buzz after director Robert Zemeckis, who helmed the original trilogy, hinted he’d be intrigued by the idea of turning Back to the Future: The Musical into a film, similar to Hamilton. However, Gale shut down any hopes of a new film adaptation. “I don’t think I can be any more clear,” Gale said, making sure everyone understands: the DeLorean is officially parked for good.

Fans have been clamoring for a fresh chapter for nearly 35 years, and Universal Pictures has fielded plenty of those requests too. But Gale emphasized it’s a no-go, adding that the current trilogy — featuring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown — alongside the games, toys, animated series, and the musical, are where the franchise’s legacy will stay.

The original Back to the Future, released in 1985, became an instant classic, followed by two highly successful sequels that cemented its place in pop culture history. But as much as audiences would love to see new stories involving time travel adventures, Gale insists the existing content is the final word.

So, while fans can enjoy streaming the trilogy and heading to the theater for Back to the Future: The Musical, Gale’s message is clear: there’s no sequel in the flux capacitor’s future.

What are your thoughts on Bob Gale’s firm stance against a new Back to the Future installment? Would you have liked to see a continuation, or is it better left as it is? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
