Pharrell Williams wants to set the record straight — he’s got nothing but love for Taylor Swift.

The acclaimed artist opened up to GQ about past comments that some believed were aimed at Swift after she endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election. Pharrell’s remarks in The Hollywood Reporter about celebrity endorsements stirred controversy, but he insists there was no shade directed at the pop superstar.

“Because that’s what they do. They pit you against each other. I love Taylor. She knows that,” Pharrell explained, squashing any rumors of animosity.

When asked if he had specifically mentioned Swift, he responded, “No. Zero. In fact, I bought a 1989 Taylor T-shirt online last year, and I was walking around here with it tucked into my jeans. I love her. I love people, bro. That was some right-wing troll sh*t.”

Pharrell even reflected on the divisiveness of political sides, saying, “Right-wing, left-wing, all the same bird,” showcasing his belief in unity despite differing opinions.

The original controversy stemmed from Pharrell’s Hollywood Reporter interview, where he expressed frustration about celebrities endorsing politicians. “I don’t do politics. In fact, I get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell you [who to vote for]. There are celebrities that I respect that have an opinion, but not all of them. I’m one of them people [who says], ‘What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.’”

Swift, meanwhile, made waves for her vocal support of Harris, even drawing a fiery response from Donald Trump, who wrote on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

Pharrell’s recent statements show that, despite the noise, he holds Swift in high regard and is more focused on spreading positivity than engaging in media-fueled rivalries.

What are your thoughts on Pharrell's clarification? Do you think celebrities should voice their political opinions, or should they keep them private? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
