Jake Paul’s latest win over Mike Tyson was the talk of the town, but it turns out the 27-year-old fighter might have been holding back more than fans thought. After clinching a unanimous decision at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, Paul admitted he “eased up” on the 58-year-old boxing legend when he noticed Tyson was struggling in the ring.

When asked if he took his foot off the gas, Jake didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, definitely,” he confessed. “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.” While some fans expected Jake to go for the knockout, it seems he chose respect over ruthlessness, giving Tyson a bit of a break as he felt the fight start to slow down.

As for Tyson’s punches, Paul revealed they didn’t pack much of a punch for him, claiming, “I didn’t really feel much punch power coming from the Baddest Man on the Planet.” According to Jake, that’s been his experience with most opponents in his fighting career. And despite boos from the crowd in the final rounds, Jake defended his approach, explaining that he “tried [his] damnedest to put on an entertaining show” but that Tyson was “just surviving in the ring.”

“I couldn’t really get him to engage me or slip shots and do something super cool or whatever, but I don’t care about what people have to say,” Jake shrugged. “They’re always going to have something to say, and it is what it is.”

Interestingly, the night didn’t end with Tyson backing down. Despite showing his age in the ring, Mike still seems ready for a fight, calling out none other than Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul, for a potential showdown.
