Lil Durk’s legal woes have been making headlines ever since his arrest in Florida last month, where he was hit with serious charges, including murder-for-hire conspiracy. Now, the Chicago rap star is locked up in Los Angeles after pleading not guilty to the charges. With his trial tentatively set for January 7, 2025, ABC7 reports that it’s “expected to be postponed.” Despite the heavy accusations and being held without bond, it looks like Durk is keeping his head up.
Recently, an associate of Durk’s, known as @900bruhbruh, reportedly shared an audio snippet of a phone call with the rapper. The recording seems to show Durk reassuring his circle that he’s holding up well behind bars. When asked if he needed anything, Durk allegedly responded that he was fine and denied rumors that he’s in protective custody. According to him, he’s been treated “fairly well” by fellow inmates.
“Just got off the phone with my brudda @lildurk,” @900bruhbruh wrote. “He in good spirits, staying positive and fighting to get back home to his kids and family. We not glorifying negativity; we’re more than just street guys. That’s actually an understatement—we’re men of honor & code no matter our financial status. Bro hit the Mainline with the rest of our kind…NO PC #FREESMURK #FREETRIGGAROME.” The update has fans rallying behind the rapper, glad to hear he’s keeping his spirits up while they push for his release.
Durk’s current legal troubles began not long after the arrest of five alleged OTF affiliates, accused of being hired to carry out a retaliatory murder of Quando Rondo. The case ties back to the tragic 2020 death of King Von and a 2022 incident involving Rondo and his cousin, Lul Pab, who was killed in a targeted shooting at a Los Angeles gas station. Prosecutors are also pointing to Durk’s music, accusing him of “rapping about his revenge” in an indictment revealed earlier this month.
