The end is near for The Boys, Prime Video’s wildly popular and over-the-top superhero series. Series creator Eric Kripke just dropped a major update: production on the fifth and final season is set to begin “a week from Monday,” as he told Collider in a recent FYC interview. That’s right—after keeping fans on edge, the countdown to the show’s epic conclusion is officially on.

Kripke is riding a wave of mixed emotions as the show gears up for its final chapter. “I’m fortunate, in that I get to maintain my denial for quite a while because I’m so busy right now,” he confessed. “Somewhere in the middle of the season, it’s gonna hit me, and hit me really emotionally.”

So, while Kripke powers through with production, fans should prepare themselves for a long wait. Star Karl Urban has hinted on Instagram that the premiere won’t drop until summer 2026. Yup, you read that right—two years.

The cast, meanwhile, is still piecing together their characters’ paths in this final arc. Kripke shared, “I can pitch out the character wide arcs, but they’re the emotional arcs… some of them we’re still working out.” Translation? Expect jaw-dropping twists that even the actors haven’t fully wrapped their heads around yet.

In true The Boys fashion, the upcoming season promises to go out with a bang. After season 4’s bombshell ending—where Homelander seizes control of the U.S. government—Kripke teased that season 5 will be “our show’s version of the apocalypse.” He added, “Homelander gets everything he has wanted… to completely remake the United States in his image, and according to his whims.”

The cast lineup is as star-studded as ever, with Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty all reprising their roles. Fan-favorite Jensen Ackles is back as Soldier Boy, while new faces like Daveed Diggs and Mason Dye (as Bombsight) are set to shake things up.

But if the wait feels unbearable, there’s good news: the show’s spin-off, Gen V, is slated to return for its second season in 2025, keeping the The Boys universe alive and kicking until the main event.

What are your expectations for The Boys final season? Are you ready for the apocalyptic showdown or do you think Homelander’s reign will take an unexpected turn? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
