Conor McGregor isn’t holding back when it comes to Jake Paul’s callouts. In true McGregor fashion, the MMA legend threw some shade at the YouTuber-turned-boxer following Paul’s recent callout for an MMA match after beating 58-year-old boxing icon Mike Tyson.

McGregor, who hasn’t stepped foot in the octagon for three years, clapped back on X/Twitter with a now-deleted post that featured an 82-year-old Senator Mitch McConnell and a biting caption: “Nakisa [Bidarian] already rang me, lad, it’s this guy next for you. Good luck pal.” Ouch.

Jake Paul, undeterred, had challenged McGregor, writing, “Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs. That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”

But McGregor isn’t the only one rolling his eyes at Paul’s antics. Boxing powerhouse Canelo Alvarez previously dismissed the idea of fighting Paul, saying, “I’m not interested.”

He added that these types of celebrity matches were hurting the integrity of boxing, telling TMZ, “It isn’t [good for boxing]… I think it’s more [of a] show than a fight. That’s what I think.” Paul didn’t hold back after his Tyson win, claiming, “Canelo needs me… He knows where the money man is at.”

Adding to the drama, light-heavyweight kingpin Artur Beterbiev put his belts on the line, offering Paul a shot at his undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles. Paul’s response? A cocky tweet: “Just seen this….top 5 pound-for-pound fighter in the world calling me out. Hahahahahaha. 4 years in, and I run this sport.” Beterbiev didn’t back down, even predicting an easy first-round knockout against Paul, stating, “If I’m a real champion, then I should be able to beat this guy in the first round.”

While Paul might be loving the attention, seasoned fighters and fans alike seem split on his legitimacy in the boxing world. Is he an athlete who has earned his place, or is he riding a wave of celebrity to maintain relevancy?
