Katy Perry is ready to shake up the music world once again with her newly announced Lifetimes Tour, and she’s bringing an adorable plus-one—her daughter, Daisy.
The Teenage Dream singer is kicking off her world tour in Mexico next year, and it looks like she’s banking on this global trek to inject fresh energy into her music career following the lukewarm response to her latest album, 143.
Perry expressed her excitement about touring with her three-year-old daughter in tow. “I’m really excited Daisy can join me on this world tour,” she told The Sun. “She is four now and then she’ll turn five on the road. Time really does fly.” Reflecting on her daughter’s growth, she added, “Some of my single friends that don’t have children… they’re like, ‘Whoa, she’s grown’. It’s like, time is happening, it’s ticking.”
The Lifetimes Tour promises to span Perry’s entire discography, showcasing hits from her multi-million-selling albums as well as some newer material. After her Mexico run, the singer will head Down Under to Australia and then return to South America, where fans in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil will get their share of Perry’s vibrant performances. The tour will also see a special stop in the UK, Orlando Bloom’s homeland, marking her first British tour in seven years.
While fans are excited, Perry’s last project, 143, didn’t exactly soar on the charts. The album peaked at a modest number six on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart, making it her lowest charting record in over a decade. Lead single Woman’s World was heavily criticized and called “the most disastrous comeback single in recent memory” by NME, only reaching number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Adding to the drama, Perry’s decision to collaborate with controversial producer Dr. Luke, who faced legal battles with Kesha over allegations of abuse, sparked backlash. Actress Abigail Breslin voiced her disappointment on X/Twitter, stating, “Working with known abusers in any industry just contributes to the narrative that men can do abhorrent s*** and get away with it.”
Despite the setbacks, Perry’s decision to bring daughter Daisy on tour and reconnect with her fanbase hints at a fresh chapter. The artist was even spotted with Taylor Swift, with whom she once had a public feud, singing along during Perry’s performance at the MTV VMAs in September. The two pop icons, who once couldn’t be in the same room, now share mutual support. “They have both grown up a lot and realize their feud was silly and overblown,” a source revealed.
So, will this upcoming tour be the boost Perry’s career needs, or is it simply a heartfelt adventure for her and Daisy? Only time will tell, but fans are ready for the Roar singer to make her grand return to the spotlight.
