Addison Rae is weighing in on fans’ buzz about her potentially playing Britney Spears in a film based on the pop icon’s memoir, The Woman in Me. With Britney teaming up with Wicked director Jon M. Chu for the highly anticipated project, comparisons between Rae and Spears have been swirling, prompting speculation about who might take on the Princess of Pop’s story.

But Addison thinks the role is too big for anyone to truly fill. During an interview on The New Hit List, the He’s All That star humbly shut down the idea of stepping into Britney’s shoes.

“I honestly don’t think anyone deserves to play Britney,” Rae said, describing Spears as “such an enigma and such an icon.” She added, “I don’t even think it’s right to compare me to her at all. She really, really created something that is untouchable and so in its own lane that nobody will ever truly be able to replicate what she did for music and even the entertainment industry.”

While Rae is flattered by the comparisons, she believes the ultimate decision belongs to Britney herself. “I support anything and everything that Britney Spears ever wants to do in her life and career,” she shared. “I think she’ll have the best opinion on who she thinks that should be. That’s what I’m gonna lean on.”

When asked how she’d feel if Britney gave her the nod, Addison didn’t hesitate: “I would be very, very honored if she ever were to say that. I think if she ever were to say anything to me, even if it was something I didn’t want to hear, I’d be like, ‘I’ll take it.’”

As the The Woman in Me movie gains momentum, the question of who will portray the pop superstar remains a hot topic. Addison Rae isn’t the only actress being floated for the role, and it seems Britney’s fans—and Spears herself—will have a lot to say before any decisions are made.
