Marvel fans, get ready! Kevin Feige has officially announced that Fantastic Four: First Steps will wrap filming next week, setting the stage for its highly-anticipated release on July 25, 2025.
The Marvel Studios head revealed the news during Disney’s APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, where he appeared via video chat sporting a Fantastic Four logo cap.
“Finally, [we’re] bringing Marvel’s First Family into the MCU,” Feige said, according to Deadline. “They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four.” He also called it the MCU film he’s most excited about in 2025.
The rebooted Fantastic Four features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The film’s cosmic villains include Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer.
Set in a retro-futuristic, 1960s-inspired version of Earth, the film promises a visually unique aesthetic. According to Marvel’s synopsis, the Fantastic Four will face Galactus and his herald while existing in an alternate timeline, free from interference by other MCU characters. Fans can also expect a tease of Victor von Doom—played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.—although his full storyline will remain under wraps for now.
Feige also teased the return of the X-Men to the MCU, suggesting that Secret Wars will mark the beginning of a new era for mutants. He hyped up Thunderbolts, set for May 2, 2025, calling it a quintessential Marvel project: “It’s taking characters from all different types of places and franchises and putting them together.”
