It’s the end of an era for fans of The Conjuring series. Vera Farmiga, who brought Lorraine Warren to life alongside Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren, has said her heartfelt farewell to the franchise—and it looks like she won’t be back for the upcoming TV spinoff.
In an emotional Instagram post featuring a wedding-day shot of Ed and Lorraine, Farmiga reflected on her journey with Wilson and the beloved horror series. “Roundabout 5,000 days ago, this guy and I signed a WB contract and said ‘I do’ to embodying Ed and Lorraine Warren,” she wrote. “Today, he wraps. I have another 12 hours of laughter and insanity with him and then abruptly, he will walk off set, peel off sweat-soaked demonologist garb, shave off his side burns, flash that dazzling smile and bid our fake marriage adieu.”
Farmiga continued, “Yeah… I got them feels today. It was a match made in heaven, PWilz. A hell of an era. Here’s to 12 years. I cherish you.”
Fans had hoped that Farmiga and Wilson would reprise their roles for the Conjuring TV spinoff, but Farmiga’s touching goodbye all but confirms their time with the franchise is over. With production wrapping on The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final film in the series, Farmiga’s farewell marks the end of an era for horror fans who have followed Ed and Lorraine’s spine-chilling adventures for over a decade.
The upcoming TV show still has a lot of buzz, but without its two leading stars, it faces the challenge of living up to the legacy of the films. The heart and soul of the series, Farmiga and Wilson’s performances were essential to making The Conjuring a cultural phenomenon.
As fans await The Conjuring: Last Rites, which hits theaters on September 5, 2025, Farmiga’s heartfelt goodbye is a reminder of how much the series has meant to her—and the fans who’ve loved every minute of it.
