Conor McGregor isn’t backing down. The UFC superstar has announced plans to appeal a Dublin High Court ruling that found him liable in a civil sexual assault case and ordered him to pay €187,000 (approximately $258,507) in damages.
Breaking his silence on Twitter after the verdict, McGregor stated, “I will be appealing today’s decision. The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide ❤️🙏.”
The decision stems from allegations made by former hair colorist Nikita Hand, who claimed McGregor assaulted her in a Dublin hotel in 2018. McGregor has denied the accusations, maintaining that their encounter was “fully consensual.” While McGregor’s co-defendant, James Laurence, was found not guilty, the jury ruled against McGregor, awarding damages for assault but not for aggravated or exemplary claims.
McGregor’s tweet suggests his legal team will focus on the jury’s access to evidence during the trial, possibly arguing that critical details were excluded. The ruling is already stirring debates about the impact on McGregor’s career and public image, and an appeal could keep the case in the spotlight for months to come.
For now, McGregor remains with his family, plotting his next legal move and continuing to engage with his global fanbase. Whether his appeal will reverse the decision or solidify its outcome is yet to be seen.
