Jesse James and Bonnie Rotten’s Messy Divorce Escalates with Abuse Allegations and Restraining Orders

Jesse James and estranged wife Bonnie Rotten are embroiled in a bitter divorce battle, with both sides hurling shocking allegations of domestic abuse.

James, famously known as Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband, filed for a restraining order Wednesday in response to Rotten’s divorce petition and her own TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) request. In his filing, James asked the court to keep Rotten—real name Alaina Hicks—100 feet away from him and their son, Bishop, until a custody hearing can determine the next steps.

According to James, the couple, who married in June 2022, had a tumultuous relationship that included multiple incidents of violence. He claims that, months before their wedding, Bonnie attacked him and attempted to break his finger. Things allegedly escalated during her pregnancy, with James accusing her of poking a hole in his neck with her thumbnail. He also alleges that after one heated argument, Bonnie kicked him from behind, breaking his wrist and dislocating his thumb.

James further accuses Bonnie of abusive behavior toward their pets, claiming she regularly beat their cats and dogs—behavior he says their son has started mimicking.

Bonnie, however, is fighting back with her own restraining order request, alleging James has been violent toward her. She claims he once slapped her in the face and denies ever kicking him, asserting that a door accidentally injured him during an argument. She also alleges that James punched her in the throat during the same incident.

In her statement to TMZ, Bonnie said she chose to leave the home with their son to protect their well-being. “After I filed for divorce, Jesse started making false and baseless allegations against me that are completely fabricated as part of his ongoing attempt to manipulate and gaslight me,” she said. She added, “For the safety and well-being of our child, I will not engage in litigating this matter in the press. I trust the legal process to address these issues appropriately and respectfully ask for privacy during this time.”

This isn’t the first time Bonnie has filed for divorce from James—she filed twice in 2022 but ultimately did not go through with it.

As the legal battle heats up, the truth remains murky, with both sides painting vastly different pictures of their tumultuous relationship.
