Richard Gere is trading the hustle and bustle of Hollywood for the charm of Madrid! The Pretty Woman star revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he’s moving to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two young sons.

“My wife is Spanish. Is this a problem for anybody out there?” Gere joked, flashing his signature humor. The decision comes after seven years of living in the U.S., and now it’s Alejandra’s turn to be closer to her roots. “We’re going to spend some years in Madrid with her family,” Gere shared, assuring fans he’ll still be making trips back to America.

The move seems like a perfect fit for the family. “Our kids are bilingual, so they’re going to flourish there,” Gere added. The couple shares two sons—Alexander, 5, and James, 4—while Gere is also dad to 24-year-old Homer, and Alejandra has an 11-year-old son named Albert from a previous relationship.

Gere also dished on how the family will celebrate the holidays in Madrid. “My wife grew up in a big Spanish family…her grandmother was kind of the glue that held that all together,” Gere explained. “I can see [Alejandra] morphing into the new grandmother of this extended family. She’s already planning for 35 people for Sunday lunches.”
