Broadway got a major blast of boy band nostalgia when JC Chasez, the legendary NSYNC member, made a surprise appearance at & Juliet on Thursday night (November 21). The pop icon, 48, thrilled fans at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City by taking the stage after the show and treating the audience to an electrifying encore performance of “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”
The Max Martin-powered musical imagines a new chapter for Juliet from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, with a soundtrack featuring hits like “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “Baby One More Time,” and NSYNC’s own “It’s Gonna Be Me.” But JC couldn’t resist bringing another classic to life, telling the audience, “I had one issue with the show. This is actually my first time singing on a Broadway stage, and I have the feeling I want to do it again.”
He added, “I want to sing a song that Max wrote that didn’t make the play that I think might’ve, should’ve made the play. Let’s go!” Moments later, the theater erupted as JC delivered an unforgettable rendition of the NSYNC anthem, leaving fans buzzing.
The night’s excitement doesn’t end there—NSYNC fans have more to look forward to as Joey Fatone is set to join the & Juliet cast in January, stepping into the role of Lance starting January 21. With one NSYNC member already rocking the Broadway stage, it seems the boy band magic is alive and well.
