Get ready to experience the aloha spirit in a whole new way! Disney has just dropped the first teaser trailer for the live-action remake of the beloved 2002 animated classic, Lilo & Stitch. Fans were treated to a 30-second glimpse of everyone’s favorite chaotic alien, Stitch, causing destruction in true Godzilla fashion by smashing sandcastles on a sunny Hawaiian beach.
The live-action adaptation stays true to its roots, with Chris Sanders, the original voice of Stitch and co-director of the animated film, reprising his role as the lovable, mischievous alien. Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo, the spirited Hawaiian girl who adopts Stitch, while Sydney Agudong takes on the role of Lilo’s protective older sister, Nani. Joining the cast are Kahiau Machado as Nani’s love interest David Kawena, alongside Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, and Tia Carrere in supporting roles.
The official synopsis teases all the heartfelt chaos we’ve come to love: Lilo & Stitch “tells a story of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction. With nosy social workers and pursuing aliens banging on the door, the two bond over a shared sense of family and win the day.”
This reimagining promises to deliver the perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh excitement as it brings Hawaii’s vibrant culture and the cherished ohana message to life. Fans of the original can expect a blend of humor, heart, and action when the film hits theaters on May 23, 2025.
