Drake isn’t losing sleep over Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album GNX, even if it takes multiple jabs at him. Appearing on xQc’s Livestream, Drizzy addressed the heat coming from the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, making it clear he’s unfazed by the lyrical digs.

“I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul,” Drake quipped. “In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairy tales won’t do it.” The sharp response sets the tone for what could become another chapter in their long-standing rivalry.

This isn’t the first time Drake has questioned Lamar’s authenticity. Reflecting on the buzz surrounding Kendrick’s legendary “Control” verse back in 2013, Drake told Elliott Wilson, “[Kendrick] is giving people moments, but are you listening to it now, at this point in time? Okay… It was real cool for a couple of weeks.” He added, “If I asked you, for example, how does that verse start?” referring to the verse that famously named him alongside Big Sean, Wale, Meek Mill, and Pusha T.

Drake’s casual dismissal of Kendrick’s newest effort comes as he’s been busy collaborating with fresh talent. On xQc’s stream, Drake also gave his opinion on today’s rap scene. “Rap music is weird now anyway,” he said while chatting with xQc about their favorite tracks. Drizzy recently teamed up with rising artist Chino Pacas for a Spanish track, channeling vibes similar to his 2018 hit “MIA” with Bad Bunny. While the collaboration has seen mixed reviews, it highlights Drake’s willingness to experiment outside the rap genre.

Despite taking shots from multiple rivals throughout 2024, including Rick Ross, Future, and The Weeknd, Drake remains focused on his music. His version of “The Heart Pt. 6,” a response to Kendrick Lamar, stirred up the scene earlier this year, but fans are still waiting to see if the 6 God will release another direct clapback.

Do you think Drake should fire back with another diss, or is he playing it smart by staying calm? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.

With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
