Elton John is sharing a heartfelt and an update about his ongoing vision issues, revealing that his eyesight has been severely impacted by a severe infection he suffered months ago.
The music icon, known for his chart-topping hits and larger-than-life performances, admits the condition has left him unable to see out of his right eye—and it’s taking a serious toll on his ability to create music.
v, Elton confesses, “I haven’t been able to properly see for 4 months, especially since my left eye already wasn’t ‘the greatest.’” The legendary singer explained that his vision problems are a major roadblock to recording new music. “I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording—I don’t know. Because I can’t see a lyric, for a start.”
Despite the challenges, Elton remains optimistic. He shared there’s been “hope and encouragement” that his vision might improve over time. However, he admits the setback has been devastating, saying, “I am kind of stuck at the moment… I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything. I can’t watch anything.”
Even with these struggles, Elton says he’s still the “luckiest man in the world.” Reflecting on his life and achievements, he expressed gratitude for his beautiful family, including his two sons, Zachary and Elijah. Elton retired from touring in 2023, citing his desire to be present during his sons’ teenage years as a major factor in stepping away from the road.
