Trey Songz is facing an $11 million payout after a Las Vegas judge ruled against him in a lawsuit brought by Tyrelle Dunn, a Maryland Capitol police officer, stemming from a disturbing 2021 incident. According to court documents via TMZ, Songz failed to respond to the allegations, leading to a default judgment in Dunn’s favor.
The case centers around a harrowing night at a Las Vegas hotel where Dunn claims he was brutally assaulted while trying to rescue his wife from Songz’s room. “Plaintiff’s wife was escorted by Defendant security personnel to room 6014 where she was told she would meet Trey Songz,” the lawsuit states. Dunn alleges his wife was assaulted, had her phone taken away, and screamed for help. When he arrived at the room, the situation turned violent.
Dunn, who suffered severe injuries including fractures to both eye sockets, facial and rib injuries, and head trauma, described the lasting impact. “The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life. I still have the scarring and suffer emotionally from the attack. I think about the attack every day when I see the injuries to my face and body,” he said in court documents. He also missed over a month of work due to the incident.
Audio obtained by 8 News Now reveals a 911 call from a hotel worker describing Dunn’s condition. “He was battered in a room, and we can’t go up there because we’re not sure if the people are armed,” the caller told the operator. “They battered him and they stole his money and his chain.”
While Songz was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the matter back in April 2022, he has not commented publicly on the judgment or indicated plans to appeal.
