Dolph Lundgren Announces He’s Cancer-Free in Emotional Health Update

Hollywood action legend Dolph Lundgren has officially crushed cancer. The 67-year-old Rocky IV star, who famously portrayed Ivan Drago, announced the life-changing news on Instagram on November 27, while waiting for a final medical procedure to eliminate a lingering tumor. Lundgren, beaming with relief and gratitude, shared his optimism in a heartfelt video.

“Here I am at UCLA. [I’m] about to go in and get rid of that last dead tumor,” Lundgren revealed. “Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, then I guess I’ll be cancer-free, so I’m looking forward to this procedure.”

The video was accompanied by a caption that read, “Health update – finally cancer-free with gratefulness and excitement for a bright future. Thanks for all your support always. 🙏”

This incredible milestone comes after an eight-year battle with cancer that Lundgren first publicly addressed in May 2023 during an interview on In Depth With Graham Bensinger. The Swedish actor shared that his ordeal began in 2015 with the removal of a kidney tumor. However, in 2020, more tumors were discovered, leading to an emotionally grueling fight for survival.

“This is just the first time I’ve spoken about it,” Lundgren told Bensinger. “If you can save one person’s life who was in my situation, then it’s worth it, for sure.” Reflecting on the time when doctors gave him just two or three years to live, Lundgren admitted, “I thought it was it for sure. You kind of look at your life and go, ‘I’ve had a great life.’ I’ve had a freaking great life. I’ve lived like five lifetimes in one already with everything I’ve done.”

In his emotional revelation, Lundgren shared how the experience shaped his outlook: “It’s been a rough ride and really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life. It’s the only way to go.”
