Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman brought their A-game to Deadpool & Wolverine, but not every joke made it past Disney’s final cut. A newly revealed deleted line from the movie proves that Reynolds’ Deadpool had a much dirtier punchline about Disney’s beloved Mickey Mouse—one that was deemed far too spicy for the Mouse House.
In the theatrical cut of Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s a memorable scene where Deadpool meets resistance members Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner), and Gambit (Channing Tatum). Wade Wilson cracks a joke comparing the situation to “Pinocchio stuck his nose up my ass and started lying like crazy.” But according to the original script, the line was far raunchier: “F*CK! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c**k in my throat.”
It’s easy to see why Disney scrapped this line. Deadpool’s humor often flirts with the boundaries of good taste, but dragging Mickey Mouse into a not-safe-for-work joke was a bridge too far. As one of the MCU’s most quotable characters, anything Deadpool says is almost guaranteed to go viral as memes and reels. A joke this explicit about Disney’s mascot could’ve become a PR nightmare.
Despite the edits, Deadpool & Wolverine still stands as the MCU’s only R-rated film, pushing boundaries with its irreverent humor and unapologetic violence. The movie also used clever code names like “Billy” for Blade and “Gatsby” for Gambit in its script to keep cameo surprises under wraps during production.
While fans might be sad to miss out on this jaw-dropping joke, the film still delivers plenty of fourth-wall-breaking fun and outrageous humor. But with this deleted line now making headlines, it’s clear Deadpool’s sacred tunnel of truth isn’t entirely airtight.
