James Van Der Beek is tackling one of the toughest challenges of his life: stage 3 colorectal cancer. The Dawson’s Creek star revealed earlier this month that he’s been battling the disease since 2023. Facing mounting medical expenses, James is finding creative ways to offset the financial toll.

On Friday, James took to Instagram to unveil a heartfelt initiative—selling autographed jerseys from his iconic 1999 movie Varsity Blues. Fans can grab a signed #4 Jonathan “Mox” Moxon jersey, with all proceeds going toward families struggling with cancer-related financial burdens—including his own.

“Merch drop! Excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Varsity Blues with a limited edition #4 Moxon jersey—each one personally autographed by me,” he announced on Instagram. “100% of my net proceeds will go to families recovering from the financial burden of cancer (including my own 😇).”

In a nostalgic nod, James also shared photos and videos of himself rocking the legendary #4 jersey, reminding fans of his unforgettable role in the cult classic. He even posted on his Instagram Story, urging fans to “Order now & get a signed one in time for Christmas,” with the hashtag #CancerIsExpensive.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
