Margot Robbie recently reflected on her iconic role as Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street and the fearless decisions she made to bring the character to life. During an appearance on the Talking Pictures podcast, the Barbie star revealed how her memorable full-frontal scene and a surprising audition moment were completely her ideas.

In one of the movie’s most talked-about scenes, Naomi seduces Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) with an unapologetic, bold approach. Robbie explained that the decision to go fully nude was hers, even though director Martin Scorsese offered her the option to wear a robe. “That’s not what she would do in that scene,” Margot said. “The whole point is that she’s going to come out completely naked—that’s the card she’s playing.”

Robbie’s fearless attitude extended beyond the set and into her final audition. When the script called for her to kiss DiCaprio, she instead made a split-second decision that changed everything. “I thought, I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now, and that would be awesome. I can’t wait to tell all of my friends this,” she said. “And then I thought… nah. And just walloped him in the face.”

The unexpected slap stunned everyone. “It was dead silence for what felt like an eternity but was probably three seconds,” she shared. “Then they just burst out laughing. Leo and Marty were laughing so hard, they said, ‘That was great.’” Despite their praise, Margot admitted she was terrified afterward. “I was thinking, I’m going to get arrested. I’m pretty sure that’s assault, battery. Not only will you never work again, actually you will go to jail for this, you idiot.”
