Kyrie Irving is in hot water after being slapped with a $390,710 lawsuit by a wellness company accusing him of dodging payment for a lavish family retreat.
According to TMZ Sports, Elite Mind Solutions, the company behind the lawsuit, claims the Dallas Mavericks star left them high and dry after hosting an extravagant event from June 28 to July 2.
The retreat, initially planned for 50 to 60 attendees, reportedly spiraled out of control when Kyrie allegedly upped the guest list to 115 just days before the event and brought a whopping 150 people on the actual day. Adding to the chaos, a tragic incident involving an attendee’s unexpected death required crisis intervention services, which Elite Mind Solutions says they provided to keep the retreat running smoothly.
Elite Mind Solutions argues they trusted Irving’s assurance to “handle all costs” due to a longstanding relationship dating back to 2020. “Defendants made false representations… with the intent to induce Plaintiff to continue performing services,” the lawsuit alleges. Despite claiming Irving and his team benefited “enormously” from their services, the wellness company says he has yet to pay a dime.
The lawsuit accuses Irving of unjust enrichment and fraud, claiming, “[Irving] knowingly accepted these services and derived significant benefits from them, yet they refuse to compensate Plaintiff.”
As of now, Irving has remained silent on the allegations, focusing on his current season with the Dallas Mavericks. The team holds a solid 13-8 record, sitting in 5th place in the Western Conference, as they prepare to face the Memphis Grizzlies.
This isn’t the first time Irving has found himself in the middle of controversy, but fans and critics alike are waiting to see how this legal battle plays out.
