Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is breaking his silence after a terrifying head injury during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. The 25-year-old QB was carted off the field after a controversial late hit by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair left him showing signs of a traumatic brain injury.
The hit occurred as Trevor was sliding to end a play, a move designed to protect quarterbacks from contact. However, Al-Shaair lunged and struck Lawrence directly in the head. Trevor immediately displayed “fencing posture,” a reflex associated with brain trauma, raising alarm among players and fans. He was carted off the field and did not return to the game.
Following the hit, Jaguars players confronted Al-Shaair, igniting a brawl that saw him ejected from the game. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson addressed the situation, expressing disappointment over the incident. “It’s unfortunate. It’s a play that really has no business being in our league,” Pederson said. “I thought the officials did a great job of doing the best they could to get control of it.”
Hours after the injury, Trevor reassured fans with a heartfelt post on X: “Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me. I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all 🙌🏼.”
This marked Trevor’s first game back since a previous injury sidelined him after Week 10, adding to the frustration for Jaguars fans. Lawrence’s injury is the second significant quarterback concussion of the 2024-2025 NFL season, further spotlighting the league’s ongoing concerns about player safety.
