Matt Rife is setting the record straight about those swirling plastic surgery rumors, and he’s not holding back.The 29-year-old comedian, fresh off the release of his memoir Your Mom’s Gonna Love Me, addressed the chatter surrounding his dramatic transformation over the years.

Sharing side-by-side photos from August 2017 and September 2024, Rife credits his evolved appearance to something far simpler than a trip under the knife—late-onset puberty. “Over a few months, I went from looking like a 13-year-old to looking like, you know, my actual age. Like an actual grown-ish man. My face got wider, my features became more prominent, I grew a few inches taller,” he wrote in his book, as quoted by People.

Rife revealed that his delayed puberty fueled “a million-and-one internet conspiracies about all this elaborate plastic surgery I somehow had the time and money to undergo.” But he’s not letting the rumors slide, especially when some medical professionals have chimed in with baseless claims.

“Straight up—if you are an actual doctor actually going on TikTok to proclaim a guaranteed diagnosis about a dude you’ve never even met before, much less treated, how the hell do you not lose your license?” Rife vented. “Can the medical board please just issue an official certificate telling you to get a life? Something to help these people get their priorities straight, because they desperately need it.”

Rife didn’t stop there. He opened up about the downsides of being conventionally attractive, especially as a comedian. “If anything, as a comedian, it actually made s— harder,” he admitted. “It turns out that pretty people are f—ed-up, too. Who knew? I’m in therapy. I’ve had multiple anxiety attacks. I struggle with clinical depression, and I have complicated feelings about life, about my mom, about loneliness.”

By addressing the rumors head-on, Rife not only shut down the plastic surgery chatter but also gave fans an unfiltered look into the challenges of his life behind the laughs.
