Soulja Boy’s former personal assistant and ex-girlfriend scored a significant win in court as her lawsuit against the rapper is set to move forward.
According to AllHipHop, Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Mark H. Epstein ruled on Wednesday to deny Soulja Boy’s legal team’s motion to dismiss multiple claims in the lawsuit, including allegations of gender violence, a hostile work environment, and negligence.
The lawsuit, originally filed in 2021 by the plaintiff under the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” alleges nearly two years of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse during her employment with Soulja Boy from late 2018 to 2020. Judge Epstein delivered a scathing response to Soulja Boy’s defense, stating, “If defendant means that he did not owe plaintiff a duty not to sexually assault her, the argument is frivolous. Similarly meritless is the argument that the sexual assault had nothing to do with gender.”
The claims against Soulja Boy include sexual battery, physical assault, false imprisonment, and withholding wages. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff worked under grueling conditions—seven days a week, 20 hours daily—for a weekly wage of $500. Her duties reportedly ranged from cooking and styling Soulja Boy’s hair to managing his travel plans and personal belongings. She alleges that the abuse began shortly after her employment started and escalated to instances where she was locked in a room without basic necessities.
Soulja Boy has denied the allegations, calling them “untrue” through his representatives. However, the plaintiff’s legal team asserts that the experience left her “physically and emotionally traumatized” and that she is pursuing legal action to seek accountability.
This latest development adds to a series of controversies for the rapper, who recently mocked fellow artists Drake and Plies over their legal challenges. While no trial date has been set, this ruling marks a significant step forward for the plaintiff’s case.
