Jay-Z and Diddy are facing serious allegations after a civil lawsuit was refiled on December 8, naming both music moguls in connection to the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl at a house party in 2000.
Originally filed in October against Diddy, the lawsuit, spearheaded by lawyer Tony Buzbee, has now been expanded to include Jay-Z. The accuser, referred to as Jane Doe, alleges the incident occurred after the MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit in the Southern District of New York, limited his comment to XXL, stating, “The pleading speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court.”
Jay-Z fired back with a lengthy statement calling the accusations a “blackmail attempt” and taking aim at Buzbee’s credibility. “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” he wrote. Jay-Z dismissed the claims as a calculated attempt to force a settlement, adding, “It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”
Diddy’s legal team also issued a response, labeling the lawsuit a “shameless publicity stunt.” They emphasized his innocence and confidence in the legal system, stating, “The truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
Both Jay-Z and Diddy strongly deny the allegations and have committed to fighting the claims in court. The case adds another high-profile controversy to a year that has seen heightened scrutiny of celebrities and their legal battles.
